Another Article about exporting

Hi adsdsf,

OK, another article about exporting to Mexico.

The response was so good to the last article on how to export to Mexico by the truckload that after getting emails from many readers asking for more information I decided to add this article.

This article is a bit more specific as it talks about how to export beverages to Mexico.

Remember that my eBook talks about how to start different wholesale businesses including a beverage distribution business. You can find it at www.DistributionBusiness.com

Learn how to export your beverages to Mexico in the next 30 days

Selling beverages to Mexico is easier than ever. Mexico is the #1 importer of US products in the world. There is a need for all types of products including energy drinks, beer, water, flavored water, wine, soda and spirits.

Mexico posts the greatest export opportunity for every US beverage company large and small. It has all the ingredients of a great customer. It has a great infrastructure including roads and ports to ship truckloads of products, many beverage distributors selling to supermarkets and convenience stores and more than 500,000 stores willing and able to buy new products throughout Mexico.

Not only that, but Mexico is one of the largest consumers of beverages in the world per capita and as a country including soda, flavored water, energy drinks and beer.

Beverage exports to Mexico are underrepresented with a mere $147,000,000 per year being exported from the USA to Mexico. This shows a Trade Deficit of $2 Billion Dollars in Beverage.

Mexicans are so eager to buy that they come to the USA looking for products instead of waiting around for someone to call them and sell them something. They visit US trade shows, organizations and many companies. I constantly have someone in San Diego visiting from Mexico to speak with me on how they can find products of all kinds to export.

Who's looking for new beverages? Mainly wholesale distributors and large retailers. They are looking for beverages to sell in retail stores or to other distributors in Mexico, most of the time they will buy truckloads and export them to Mexico themselves, handling the shipping, imports and tariffs.

Why do they do this? Why are they so eager to buy US drinks? Simple, they don't have Mexican made products they can sell and they want to be the first to carry a new American beverage. They know if they are the first to market with a new product they can make a lot of money very fast. After that they just restock their customer's shelves and refrigerators.

The big question I'm asked by my consulting clients is: how do I get started exporting to Mexico?

To export to Mexico you can be passive or active. You can go after the business or wait until they come looking for you, and believe me, if you have a good product, eventually they will.

---Passive Approach---

The passive approach to getting business is to make sure Mexican businesspeople can find you. Here are a few tactics on how to reach exporters:

-You have to make sure your products are in US trade shows. You don't have to go yourself, maybe a customer sells at trade shows or you hire a broker that goes to trade shows.

-Make sure all your products and sales materials have an international phone number (not just a USA toll free number) as well as an email address. This includes your website, product labels, business cards and brochures.

-Have the right information ready. Make sure you already know what your international price will be. It's usually much lower than your US price, especially if they will pay the export fees and transportation. You also need all the product specifications like weight, dimensions, case count or pallet count.

---Active Approach---

If you are serious about selling to Mexico and would like to do it NOW you have to be more active. You can't just wait for people to find you because it can take months or even years if you don't have any promotions in the marketplace.

The first thing you have to do is learn more about your target market. How much are people paying in Mexico for your beverage or a similar product? How much are they paying to import and transport those products? What are the profit margins for the distributors and retailers? Where could you sell your products? How many stores are there in Mexico?

Once you learn more about your target market and you develop your price strategy it's time to find customers. Visit Mexican trade shows, look for US distributors already selling in Mexico and find brokers.

After you educate yourself a bit more on the Mexican marketplace you also need to determine what kind of support your new found customers will need in Mexico. Do you have a product that sells itself or do you need store promotion, POS (Point of Sale) material, sales commissions, or some other support.

Many times my customers tell me "I just want to sell my beverages in the USA and someone can export it, sell it, merchandise it and distribute it". Well, this is possible. I've helped companies sell products like mayonnaise, water, margarine and other products that sell themselves in this fashion. But if your product is not a "first necessity" product or name brand, chances are you'll either have to do some promotion or give a very good price to distributors and importers.

Day 5 - Distribute Auto Accesories

Hi adsdsf,

When you buy our new eBook on how to start and make money in wholesale distribution you also get 2 lists of suppliers.

One of them containing a list of Wholesalers that includes importers and manufacturers of merchandise you can start selling quickly.

The other list contains a list of suppliers of liquidations and closeouts where you can buy merchandise for cents on the dollar. So don't delay and visit www.DistributionBusiness.com and buy my eBook today.

Here is a good case study: How to distribute auto accesories. This is a great wholesale business.

Business: Distribute Auto Accessories to Auto Parts Stores, Car Dealerships and Supermarkets.

Distributing Auto Accessories is not limited to auto part stores. You can distribute them to any supermarket, convenience store, pharmacy, car wash, gas station or liquor store in town.

Auto accessories have big margins. If you but an Oil Funnel in a gas stations it cost you $2 to $3. You can buy the same product for $0.20. This goes for many products. These are some of the products you could sell:

Oil
Oil funnels
Fuel additives
Car wash soap
Tire cleaner
Sponges
Dusters
CD carriers
Ash trays
Air Fresheners
Dash cleaners
Tire brushes
Auto novelties
Ice scrapper

For each of these products you could easily carry from 3 to 5 stiles, sizes and colors. You don't need more. If you have some good accounts you just have to service them by stocking and servicing the account.

Once you have a few products it's time to decide on your type of customer.

--Type of customer--
You will have lots to choose from depending on where you live, the weather and population. For example, if you live in a small town or near small towns your best bet is to sell to truck stops. They are super customers when it comes to auto accessories. If you live in the city you can sell to gas stations, auto dealers and car washes.

Make sure that wherever you sell your products they have a retail customer and not a service type customer (like hair salons). Stick to retail places and you'll be just fine. The more "auto oriented" the store the better. For example, liquor stores are good but hardware stores are better. Even better are gas stations, auto part stores, car dealers and car washes.

Your display is also very important. Try to use as much space as possible in a store and always keep it clean and organized. If you have very good stores you'll have to be there every week servicing your products. Keep you shelves and displays clean and fully stocked at all times.

This is your last email of your Distribution Business Review series. Don't forget to get the eBook and read about more business in more detail.

Don't delay!

Day 4 - Lighters Wholesale Distribution Business

Hi adsdsf,

Here is your 4th business profile.

Quickly Rush to www.DistributionBusiness.com to find out more about this and other distribution businesses....

...and remember, you get 2 lists of Wholesale Suppliers and Liquidators absolutely FREE.

Business: Lighters Wholesale Distribution Business.

Lighters are one of the easiest things to wholesale and distribute. Stores buy them like crazy!

I started selling lighters when I had my route in San Diego with about 600 stores. Other distributors told me about how much money they were making with lighters so I decided to give them a try. They were right. Since the first day we introduced them to the stores they were best sellers and they have remained best sellers for years.

The first thing you should know is that I'm not talking about disposable lighters or even name brand lighters like Colibri or Zippo. I'm talking about Novelty or Collector lighters. The kind you see in convenience stores and liquor stores. They are butane refillable lighters.

For example, the top selling lighters were lighters in the form of a gun, torch lighters and chopper motorcycle style lighters.

The lighters cost about $1.25 to $1.50 plus shipping, depending on the style of the lighter. Some of them are regular flame lighters, some of them have a torch, and some are double or even triple wind resistant torch lighters.

Lighters come in a small cardboard counter display. You get all of the same kind in every display. You get from 12 to 30 lighters in each display, depending on the size of each lighter.

When you distribute the lighters you sell them for at least $2 all the way up to $3 or even $3.50. It all depends where you are in the USA or in the world, the size of your town, the size of the stores, etc. You learn how to price them quickly from the first time you go into the stores.

So how much can you make? Well, if you leave an average of 2 displays per store containing an average of 25 lighters each, you'll sell 50 lighters at an average of $3.00 or $150 sale. If you paid $1.50 per lighter including shipping you made $1.50 per lighter or $75 profit in one store. If you sell to 10 stores that day you are selling $1,500 and pocketing $750.00 minus your gas and other expenses. That's not bad for a few hours of work. In my business all of my salespeople have to visit at least 20 stores per day, not 10 stores!

Let's go over the numbers of our example again:
-Your cost per lighter including shipping= $1.50
-You sell the lighter to the stores = $3.00
-Each display has an average of how many lighters = 25
-If you sell just 2 displays to the store how many lighters did you sell = 50 lighters
-How much was the sale? = $150
-How much was your profit? = $75
-If you sell to 10 stores in a day how much do you sell? = $1,500
-How much do you profit minus gas and other expenses? = $750

Again, your business will vary depending on how many stores you have, how often you visit them the price you sell them for, and many other variables.

Let me tell you what I like and don't like about the business. What I like is that you go through a lot of lighters really fast. They are small and easy to store and carry. They come in their own display so you don't need to buy racks or displays (although you can if you want or if the stores like them). I also like the fact that lighters are small and you don't need a truck or extra storage to sell them.

The thing I like least about the lighter business is that the margins are not as high as with other products. I think it's a fair trade because of the volume you can sell. The other thing with lighters is that people like to choose them. Instead of you selling whatever you have in the car people like to play with them before they buy them, they like to test them, to look at every one. It's a novelty, so they want to buy what they like, not necessarily what sells.

All and all I think it's one of the best businesses to be in.

Want to learn more about how to profit from this and other wholesale distribution businesses. You have to buy and read my eBook. It's packed with real, usable information. Information that you can use to decide if wholesale distribution is for you, what kind of wholesale distribution business is best for you, and what it will take to get started and succeed in that business.

My eBook is not a one size fits all eBook or even a "how I did it" story. It will teach you about the business show you all your options and give you all the tools you need to decide what type of business is best for you.

Day 3 My favorite Distribution Business: Beverage

Hi adsdsf,

This is day 3 of your Free Business Report. Today you'll learn about my favorite wholesale distribution business, Beverage.

Don't Forget!!!!!!!!

Get 2 LISTS of Wholesale Suppliers Completely FREE when you buy my eBook on How to Start Your Wholesale Business. These lists sell for $50 on all other sites but now you get them for FREE just for buying my information packed eBook.

-----Business: Beverage Distribution-----

Beverage distribution is one of the easiest and most profitable businesses I've seen.

I like it because you don't need a lot of customers to make a lot of money. You can easily make an extra $5,000 with a few customers.

You will see why beverage is one of the best businesses in the world. I started in beverage while I had my tool and novelty distribution business. I was looking for new products, products that I did not need to exchange so often and that I could sell over and over again to the same customers. This last part was key.

You see, when I was selling tools I figured that I could sell up to 1,000 tools per day or more but every customer was unique. In other words, if you buy a hammer at a store on Monday chances are you will not go on Tuesday and buy another Hammer. Even if it only costs $1.98!

Don't get me wrong, the tool distribution business is a wonderful business and I still love it. I was just looking for another type of product to add to my current items.

I figured out that in order to sell the same product over and over again it would have to be a food product. So I started going to trade shows and looking at chocolate, potato chips, candy, and other products. I even looked at name brands like Hershey's. The problem was that I could not buy directly from the manufacturers and the profit margins were super low, about 12%. I was used to up to 70% profit margins.

Finally I ran into a beverage manufacturer of an Energy Drink. They were just starting with their product and it was easier to become a distributor.

Now let me tell you a bit about Energy Drinks. Energy Drinks are the new Super Profitable products. Everybody makes money, the manufacturer, the distributor and the retailer. You see, Energy Drinks sell for $1.99 to $2.40 at the stores for 8 to 16 ounces. This is incredible if you consider that you can buy a soda that's the same size for $0.50 to $0.75. Even a 20 ounce soda runs you about $1.25.

Distributors love the product because they make about $8 per every case they sell compared with about $2 to $4 for their other products.

Let's get back to the Beverage Business. The great part of this business is that if you have only one customer going into the store buying your product you sell at least 1 case of that product per month.

You see; if you sell a soda someone can buy a soda every day, compared to a hammer, where people don't buy a hammer every day. So you need fewer customers because you sell more per day.

For example:
Let's say you have only 100 stores that you service yourself and sell 3 different beverages. You sell one Energy Drink and 2 Sodas. You make $8 from every case of the Energy Drink and $3 from every case of soda.

If you sell only 1 case of the Energy Drink per week per store and 3 cases of each soda you'll make about $600 profit from the sodas per week and another $800 profit per week from the Energy Drink. That's $5,600 profit per month with only 100 stores and only 3 different products. It's very easy to ramp up to 5 or even 8 products. This is why I love the beverage business.

Now let me tell you a bit more about Energy Drinks. They are the category that is growing the fastest of any other drink. It grows up to 70% per year in the US compared with 2% growth for soda. Companies are still growing from 100% to 300% per year every single year. The best part is that there is no end in sight.

Not only that, the Energy Drink Business is incredibly fun. You get advertising and promotion from companies, you get to do club and store promotions, get t-shirts, hats, gifts, extra commissions and free product from the Energy Drink companies. You also get free racks, coolers, sometimes even refrigerators.

When you buy my eBook you will get information on how to get into the Energy Drink Distribution business. I'm a consultant for the industry and I help companies expand, get distributors and sell more.

After you buy my eBook "How to Start a Wholesale Distribution Business From Home" simply email me once you read the chapter about Beverage Distribution and I'll send you a special opportunity to distribute an up and coming Energy Drink. This is a business where you get training, support, advertising, and reports, everything you need to get started. So don't delay, buy the eBook now at www.DistributionBusiness.com

Jorge

Day 2 of your Distribution Business Free Business Profile

Hi adsdsf,

Here is your second email describing a new Distribution Business you can start from home.

Don't forget to visit www.DistributionBusiness.com to get my great eBook on how to start your very own Wholesale Distribution Business from home.

-----Business: Sell $20,000 per month on eBay-----

First of all let me tell you selling on eBay is easy, but it takes time or money. eBay has fees that you have to pay and if you want to grow quickly you will spend a lot on fees while you are learning.

My wife had an eBay business and she was a Gold Power Seller selling more than $20,000 per month. She sold mostly watches, lots and lots of watches. She sold them wholesale, by the dozen or by the case, 30 to 60 at a time. They were inexpensive watches, we paid from $2.50 to $4.00 for each one and sold them from $3.50 to $12.00 depending on the quantity purchased.

All of the techniques and suppliers we used are included in my eBook or in my exclusive newsletters you get as a free bonus when you buy my eBook.

When selling on eBay there are several tricks. Let me tell you the 3 tricks I think are the most important.

Trick #1: Build your reviews. Your reviews are your lifeline on eBay. You need to build your reviews so people trust you and want to do business with you. If they don't trust you, you won't sell anything on eBay. When you start you will have to offer good deals, free shipping or great communication. I always encouraged people to call me on the phone and ask questions by posting my phone in every listing. I didn't get a lot of calls but I did get a lot of reviews.

Trick #2: Make big margins. You need those margins. You can't buy something for $10 and sell it at $12, not even at $15. The listing fees alone will eat you. Remember, you have to pay a listing fee, you have to pay a fee if you sell the product and on top of that you pay PayPal when you collect the money. You could easily pay up to 10% or more of your selling price. This could be your entire profit. If you use any special listings to showcase your product you could be looking at $20 extra per listing category. So again, don't try to make it on volume, try to make it on big margins. The best things to sell are either unique items or collectibles, name brand items that people are looking for like iPods, or hard to find items or imports.

Trick #3: Make more money on shipping. When my wife sold on eBay about 80% of our profit was made from shipping charges. We kept our product prices low so they attract the buyer and charged a bit more on shipping. People understood and they always got a great deal. For us it was a no brainer. eBay does not charge you any fees on your shipping charges, just on the selling prices.

The funny thing is we only sold wholesale on eBay. And it seemed we were the only ones really selling wholesale. Most people selling at "wholesale prices" were selling at about 3 times what we could get any of their items.

Many of our customers had eBay stores, others had convenience stores or gift stores, many of them had other businesses and wanted giveaways for their customers.

This is only a small example of what you can do with Wholesale Distribution. And believe me, it's not the most profitable one or the easiest to start. In my eBook you will find cheaper, faster ways of getting started in wholesale distribution and make even more money than what I made on eBay. I made much more from my other wholesale distribution businesses than what I made on eBay and I worked less too.

So don't delay. Buy my eBook now. With my great guarantee you have nothing to lose.

Business: Distribute Sunglasses to Convenience Stores, Supermarkets and Clothing Shops.

---What do you need to get started?
#1 You need sunglasses. You can't do it without sunglasses!
#2 You could use displays but you don't really need them to start. These are sunglass displays that hold from 12 to 50 sunglasses. They can be quite expensive so you might as well start without them, at least for now.

---How much are the sunglasses?
Your cost for these sunglasses is about $1 and you can sell them from $2 to $6 depending on where you are in the country. You also have to consider if it's sunny all the time in your town. For example, I live in San Diego where it is sunny even in winter so you can sell sunglasses year round and sell a lot more in summer. On the other hand, it's a large city and a lot of people sell sunglasses here. I sold them anywhere from $2.50 to $6.00, depending on the style and the type of store.

---How much money can you make?
This depends on how much time you have and how much money you want to make. If you are only working weekends you can only manage a few customers per week. With sunglass accounts you have to visit them once a week to every three weeks, depending on the population of your town, how sunny it is in your part of the world and the size of your customer's stores.

This is a good rule of thumb. If you only sell sunglasses you will be able to visit at least 20 stores per day if they all buy merchandise with a maximum of 35 stores per day. This is normal for a route type of business like this one. Believe me, 35 is not a lot of stores. Once you get to your route all the stores are in the same street or a few blocks away from each other.

So let's say that you only work on Saturday and you visit stores once per week during summer. If you sell an average of just 8 sunglasses per store in just 20 stores you will sell 160 sunglasses. If you sell them at $3 a pair, buy them for $1 you will make $2 a pair or a total of $320 for one day of work.

Want to make more? Then work more days! Sell other products, you can easily sell $1,000, $2,000 or more per day and you could make 30% to 50% profit.

---Benefits of selling sunglasses

-You don't really need to buy displays from the start. Many stores already have their own displays.
-Sunglasses are very inexpensive and they have a huge mark-up.
-If you give good service you will keep customers for a long time.
-Sunglasses are small so you don't need a van or truck. You can use your car.
-You don't need any storage either. You can keep a few hundred sunglasses in a small corner of your house or even in the closet.
-Shipping is not expensive because sunglasses are very light.

Get the details on this and many other businesses in my eBook "How to Start a Wholesale Distribution Business From Home".
