Getting your product distributed may be one of the most challenging aspects of any product company. Avoid these common pitfalls to achieve success.
  1. Don't just market to consumers. The real product "pitch" starts with enticing distributors. If you have not spent time developing a specific product pitch, USP, and salescript just for distributors you are behind the curve.
  2. Don't let leads fall through the cracks by not following up. Does your company have time to call thousands of distributors each week, send tens of thousands of emails, and manage the influx of questions and requests potential distributors may have? If the answer is no, you need to find a way to get there.
  3. Don't mis-allocate your marketing dollars. What is the cost of a lead for your product? What channels are you using to obtain them? If you don't know your real ROI or you are spending lots of money on traditional ads, websites, tradeshows, etc with little impact, it's time to re-evaluate.
